Coming next : Dour music festival. Part 2 : I was a lover…
Stay tuned for this new serie, of lovers portraits this time. (sigma DP2 f:2.8)
Dour music festival 2011 : part 1, perfect singles
So I made two different series of portraits during the festival, the first one is dedicated to the singles, and the next one to the couples. It was mostly shot unstaged, keeping in mind the street photography spirit I heart.
All with Sigma DP2, f:2.8. (to people who wonder : even with manual focus, this camera is really too slow for low light usage.)
Coming next : Dour festival
Taking a small break from Paris and Athens, for a special series of pictures taken in Belgium at the famous music festival which took place in mid july 2011.
Due to “extreme” conditions, I left my Leica at home and shot with the Sigma DP2. Stay tuned !

The street stylists
Some alternative style from the streets of Tel Aviv.

Teasing : summer breeze…
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind.

L’équerre
It’s all a question of perspective.

The angel with dirty wings
London’s subway is quite inspiring. This guy, who could play classic rock tunes perfectly though he was missing his right arm didn’t leave anyone indifferent.

Le fantôme du canal
Sometimes, before the sun comes out, you can see a strange silhouette over this bridge. It could be the ghost of a man playing the saxophone.

Stay focused !
Le Palais de Tokyo is a very hip museum in Paris. The exhibitions are usually rather small (a few rooms, but within a huge space) and very innovative with avant garde artists offering interesting installations.
But, many people who come to visit don’t even bother getting inside the exhibitions :in the lobby of Palais de Tokyo, the book shop and the accessories shop are very popular too. Graphists, photographers and painters love to spend the afternoon there. It is cool and arty to be seen there, and this group of hip girls, toying with some expensive pencils, knows it well…

The three stooges
I guess this one doesn’t really need my comments, so I will just let the picture speak.

Back to school
Art students are the best, the way they dress, their artistic accessories, the way they sit on the floor together like we don’t care and start drawing something you can hardly figure out. It’s all in the attitude, something they oftently don’t really master yet fortunatly, so it gives them an even greater charm. You can’t miss them in Paris, especially around the latin corner and on the streets near les Halles. One thing we have in common is for sure, wether with a pencil or a camera, we love/hate this city so much ! Black and white paradox.

Do the techno man ! (part 2)
So, as you probably know by now, this blog is all about photography of strangers in the streets, at most in strange situations, with funny attitudes, etc…
A parade like this is really fun to follow, since I can use my camera without thinking too much about being or not being seen by my subjects. I just follow the pace and look at everything around me, trying to be accurate, since it can get fast with hundreds of people around, and the Leica M, which is an all manual camera, is very demanding with concentration. Also, this one was pretty violent at times, with youngsters throwing up everywhere and other “hooligans” looking for a fight. So better be aware of your immediate surroundings if you want to get the best out of it in terms of photography.
Teasing continues…
So what kind of electronic music could these two enjoy ? I would think about trance, or tribal techno.
“To break or not to break” (was thinking the glass)
Lots of security everywhere, even though most of the people were peacefully partying, there were a lot of fights but they did not interfere. Which I thought was kind of odd.
Jack Kang, toujours partant pour une techno parade (ou une gay pride).
Upstairs, downstairs : hands up !
Who let the dogs out ? Là où il y a un punk à chiens, il y a forcément des chiens à punks.
Last but not least.
Who said you couldn’t mix work with pleasure ?
So it seems that people enjoyed the pictures in colours, so I might follow the way for the next ones. Stay tuned.

Do the techno man ! (Part 1)
Techno Parade in Paris last weekend, and a good occasion to put some shots in color this time… Hope you like them.
While some enjoy the party…
Others learn how to…
Some Parisian girls can surely teach you how to dance…
… While others should rather have a good night sleep (even at 4 pm).
Overall the techno parade is more of a teenager delirium. Paris is full of clubs with very good international DJ’s every night. So the guy who knows his music doesn’t really need to follow the Parade.
I know, I shouldn’t shoot drunk underaged people…
Because other guys do it so much better !
To be continued…
